Marlin Model 81 Bolt Action Rimfire Rifles: (1937 - 1971)
History: The Marlin Fire Arms Company introduced the model 81 bolt action rimfire rifle in 1937 as a tubular magazine variation of their model 80 rimfire rifle. The model 81 has undergone many changes during its 35 year production period and many of the parts are not interchangeable between earlier and later model 81 rifles which has added to much confusion. My desire with the information and photos below is to hopefully help you to determine the age of your model 81 rifle as well as the proper parts for it.
