Marlin Model 336 Lever Action Sporting Carbines: 1948 - 1963
Marlin introduced the model 336 Sporting Carbine in 1948 with a 20" barrel, 2/3 length magazine tube (holding 6 rounds), walnut stocks and open sights. Early variations had no provision for scope mounting and featured low comb stocks. These Sporting Carbines were available in 30-30, 32 Spl and 35 Remington. In 1955, the 219 Zipper caliber was introduced but lasted only til 1960 when it was discontinued. By 1963, the Sporting Carbine line was discontinued.
