Stevens introduced this rifle in January of 1924 as a lesser expensive variation of their popular Little Scout 14 1/2 single shot rifle. The cost cutting measure is in the stamped sheet metal frame which is hidden by the one piece wood stock. This rifle had two factors which forced its cease in production: the higher velocity 22 rimfire ammunition that entered the market and the world wide depression.
