Here is a very desirable U.S. M1 30 caliber carbine manufactured by National Postal Meter. This carbine has serial #1538394 on the receiver, a "Marlin" marked barrel with a "44" on the rear section under the hand guard and a bright bore, a two rivet handguard and a high wood pistol grip stock with proper early wheel acceptance mark and "NPM/FJA" inspection marking on the right side. This carbine has the type B safety, unmarked early style type B operating slide, type B magazine release stamped "SN", type A front band, type C recoil plate, type A trigger housing with vertical magazine grooves and stamped "N" on the right rear section, a "NH" stamped type B hammer and a type A non-adjustable for windage rear sight stamped "S" on the left side and "TN" on the right side. The metal surfaces retain most of their military dark drab greenish finish with honest wear in the usual places such as the right side of the receiver where the operating slide makes contact and on the breech bolt. The breech bolt has more of a dark blue finish than a military green. This carbine includes a fifteen round magazine which retains a regular blue finish. A great example of an early National Postal Meter M1 Carbine.  {C&R}
