Here is a Savage Model 99-G Deluxe Takedown lever action combination gun in 300 Savage and 410 bore. This combination gun has a 24" long barrel in 300 Sav caliber with a bright, excellent bore and a 24" long Featherweight barrel in 410 bore with a brass front bead and a bright, excellent bore. This combination gun has serial #301860 on the rifle, 860 on the shotgun barrel and was manufactured circa 1928. The metal surfaces on the rifle exhibit an even mixture of original blue finish with a dark brown patina and has one small spot of pitting on the barrel half the size of a dime. The shotgun barrel retains about 90% original blue finish with some scattered spots of older rust. The rifles front sight ramp has a few dings where someone has improperly tried to adjust the sight blade. The rear sight is a Marbles folding leaf style period replacement. The brass bead on the shotgun barrel is in excellent condition. All of the markings are clear and fully legible. The capped and checkered pistol grip walnut butt stock and forearm rate very good with numerous light dings, handling marks and about 70% original varnish finish remaining. The buttstock has a very faint crack behind the top tang which is common on these 99's and appears to be sound. The top tang is missing both of its filler screws and the screw that goes through the rear of the receiver is either incorrect or not seated properly and missing the nut which is suppose to be located on the right side. Mechanically, this firearm functions perfectly and both barrels fit the way one would expect. A less than mint but completely honest and original Savage manufactured combination rifle / shotgun set. {C&R} (see photos)
