This Sheffield, England manufactured sheath knife by Joseph Allen & Son features a 5" blade and a checked ebony handle. Stamped on the blade of the knife is"NON-XLL". The handle has a faint but sound crack on the left side that runs from the pin in the middle to the nickel silver guard. Included with the knife is a brown leather sheath that is period but appears to have been modified many years ago using copper rivets to secure the belt loop. The overall condition of both items rate very good with expected wear for its age. A book titled "Camp and Trail Methods" by E. Kreps published in 1910 mentions a nearly identical knife with drawing on page 72.
