Winchester Model 57 Bolt Action Target Rifles: (1927 - 1936)
History: The Winchester Repeating Arms Company introduced the model 57 in 1927 as their smaller scale and lesser expensive version of their popular model 52 target rifle. The model 57 featured standard barrel mounted sights, a front barrel band, sling swivels, detachable five round magazine, checkered steel butt plate and factory drilled and tapped for an optional receiver peep sight. This rifle weighed in at aproximately 5 pounds and lasted for only ten years producing 18,600 rifles total. This rifle was replaced with the model 69 which was very similar but lacking the barrel band, swivels and had a composite butt plate. The model 57 was discontinued in 1936.
