Ruger Hawkeye Single Shot Revolvers:  (1963 - 1964)

History: Sturm Ruger & Company introduced this single shot revolver in 1963 as a variant of their old model 3 screw Blackhawk revolver. This handgun featured an 8 1/2" barrel, adjustable rear sight, walnut grips and was in 256 Win. Mag. caliber. The cylinder section of the handgun at first glance looks like a modified 6 shot cylinder but you quickly realize that that is not the case even though it must rotate to load and unload. Unlike the Blackhawk revolver, the Hawkeye's chamber is located in the barrel. The frame is also a 2 screw variation as opposed to the 3 screw variation of the Blackhawk. Production was stopped that same year with only 3037 pieces manufactured and shipping continued into 1964 until all inventory was gone.
