Remington Arms introduced the model Six slide action rifle in 1981 as a higher priced hunting rifle, compared to the model 7600, featuring a high gloss Monte Carlo walnut stock with cheek rest, cut checkering, a fancier pistol grip cap and an imbedded cartridge head on the belly of the receiver.  This model was available in five popular calibers but had a relatively short production life of seven years when it was discontinued in 1987.  Note that the factory produced a fancier variation of the model Six known as a High Grade version but these are extremely rare to encounter as only three are known to exist.
