Remington Model 700 BDL Bolt Action Rifles: 1962 - Present
Remington introduced the model 700 bolt action rifle in 1962 with an ADL Grade and a BDL Grade having a 20" barrel and offered in seven popular calibers. In 1964 the barrel length was increased to 22" and two magnum calibers were added to the list which had 24" barrels. In 1967, the 700 BDL Varmint Special was added to the line and featured a heavy bull barrel in a choice of eight different calibers. In 1978, the model 700 Classic was introduced and by 1981 it became a limited edition offering with just one specific caliber for each year though 2005. The model 700 BDL Mountain rifle was another variation with thinned down barrel and stock configurations for a lighter and more manageable rifle designed with the hunter in mind. Over the years, the model 700 has grown in popularity as Remington's longest production bolt action center fire rifle with over two dozen caliber choices, an ever growing variety of variations, and a number of limited editions including Anniversary Editions, Custom Shop grades and even a few commemoratives.
