Winchester Model 75 Sporting and Target Bolt Action Rimfire Rifles:  1938 - 1958 

     Winchester introduced the model 75 bolt action rimfire rifle in 1938 with a Sporting model having a 24" barrel and a Target model having a 28" medium weight heavy barrel. Both variations of the model 75 were equipped with sling swivels and accepted either a 5 round or 10 round detachable magazine. The Sporting model had a checkered sporting style walnut stock with pistol grip cap while the Target model had an uncheckered target style walnut stock equipped with a forearm adjusting base on the forward belly, similar to their model 52 Target rifle stocks. The United Sates Government purchased a parkerized version of the model 75 Target rifle during World War II which featured an oil finished hard wood stock instead of the varnish finished walnut stock found on commercial variants. The military variant was stamped "U.S. Property" on the left side of the barrel or receiver. A total of 88,715 model 75 rifles were produced prior to being discontinued in 1958.
