Mossberg introduced the first variation model B single shot rimfire rifle in 1928 as their very first bolt action firearm and it was the beginning of a long and prosperous line of 22 bolt action rimfire rifles for years to come. In the year of 1930, the factory made some significant changes to the model B rifle which included a one piece bolt body, longer trigger, and many changes to some of the rifles smaller parts including extractors, sights, etc.. The rifle with these later improvements is known as the second variation model B and it lasted until 1932. The second variation model B was available in a standard grade at $4.65 and a deluxe grade which fetured the addition of factory swivels and a sling for just 30 cents more. This rifle was dropped towards the end of 1932 in order to make way for the new model 30 and model 40 bolt action rimfire rifles that were being introduced in 1933.
