This Springfield Armory manufactured longer butt plate screw is for the trapdoor rifle in 45-70 Govt. caliber and is in very good condition exhibiting a grayish brown patina with light slot wear.  (file photo)

Note: trapdoor rifles and carbines with serial numbers below circa 75,000 used this longer screw for both mounting holes on the butt plate while firearms above this serial number range used this screw for the lower hole only.
