This Springfield Armory manufactured butt plate is for the model 1868 trapdoor rifle and is in very good condition exhibiting a gun metal grayish brown patina and some specks of rust. This butt plate is stamped "US" forward of the mounting screw hole on the heel extension. (file photo)
