This Springfield Armory manufactured breech block is stamped "1870 / (eagle head / crossed arrows) / U.S." and is for the model 1870 trapdoor rifle. This breech block is in very good condition exhibiting a grayish brown patina having a few specks of older rust and/or pin prick pitting and possibly faint traces of mellowed original case colors in protected areas.
