This Springfield Armory manufactured lower barrel band is for the model 1873 trapdoor rifle and carbine in 45-70 Govt. caliber and is in very good condition exhibiting a mixture of grayish brown patina with possibly some traces of original blue finish and specks of pin prick pitting and / or rust.  (file photo)

Note: Trapdoor rifles and carbines manufactured before late 1885 with serial numbers circa 294,000 or lower would have used this barrel band if equipped with anything but the Buffington style rear sight.
