This Remington manufactured first variation 23" long (25" long overall) pre-grade barrel is for the early model 572 Fieldmaster slide action rimfire rifle which uses the plain open leaf rear sight and the .341" tall dovetail style front sight (sold separately). This barrel was also designed for the early forend hanger, did not use the cartridge ramp or the separate ejector piece. The overall condition is about very good with the bore being bright and rating excellent. The outer surfaces exhibit a mixture of thinning original blue finish with a pleasing soft brown patina. The first variation barrel is marked "Model 572" ahead of the rear sight. (file photos)
