This Savage manufactured first variation smooth steel butt plate with printing is for the model 1904 bolt action rimfire rifle and is in good condition exhibiting a brownish gray patina with some pin prick pitting and rust spots. The factory printing on the face of the butt plate says: Savage Arms / Utica N.Y. U.S.A. / Manufacturer's / of / High Power / Repeating Rifles / And Ammunition. (file photo)
