This Winchester Repeating Arms Co. manufactured factory sealed two piece, split top, cardboard box with a red top label and purple side sealing band contains all 50 rounds of Smokeless 22 WRF ammunition and is in good to very good condition with light wear, fading, and possibly minor water staining overall. The top label displays a line of trademark information, the caliber ".22 W. R. F. CALIBER" printed above "SMOKELESS CARTRIDGES", and the label codes 23 and 11-(undeciferable). The front of the side sealing band features the company guarantee, dot punched date code, label codes of 116 and 4-16, and the company name. The second line of the guarantee ends with the word "The". The left end of the side band features the Winchester Smokeless starburst and the right end displays cartridge information printed over a gold outlined "W". The back side displays three lines of information printed in black above the word "SMOKELESS" in gold.

Date of Manufacture: This style box was introduced in 1914 and was produced until 1920.

Note: This box is similar to the Huegel # WRA-9 WRF-2 variation. The difference observed is that the top label displays the code 23 as opposed to 22.

This box is similar to the box cataloged in Richard Rains's book Winchester Two-Piece .22 Boxes 1873 To 1927 as WRA-162 WRF-33. The difference observed is that the side band displays a gold outlined W.
