This Winchester Repeating Arms Co. manufactured two piece, split top, cardboard box with yellow, blue and red labels contains all 50 rounds of smokeless 22 Automatic ammunition with copper cases and is in near excellent condition with light shelf wear. The side sealing band has been broken, but a small piece remains sealed on the left end, creating a fragile hinge. Included in the box are a green, yellow, red, and white Winchester advertisement insert displaying the codes "2195" and "6-8." and a brown paper slip guaranteeing the stability of the powder used in the cartridges and featuring the codes "2232" and "2-11". The top label displays quotation marks around the word WINCHESTER, the phrase "TRADE MARKS REGISTERED IN US PAT OFF", and the label codes 29 and 5-8. The front of the side sealing band features the words "TRADE MARK" underneath WINCHESTER and the dot punched date code. The back side displays a seven line guarantee, the label codes 120 and 1-10, and the company name. One end of the band displays the Winchester Smokeless starburst while the other end features a red W overprinted with the box contents and the lines "Trade Mark Reg. U. S. Pat. / Off.and through't the world". The copper casings display the "H-10" headstamp.

Date of Manufacture: This style box was introduced in 1906 and was produced until circa 1914.

Note: This box is similar to the Huegel # WRA-8 WA-4 variation. The difference observed is that the wording under ".22 AUTOMATIC" on the top label reads "TRADE MARKS REGISTERED IN US PAT OFF".

This box is similar to the box cataloged in Richard Rains's book Winchester Two-Piece .22 Boxes 1873 To 1927 as WRA-170 WA-4(c). The differences observed are that the top label displays thicker printing on the red numbers and letters, the line "TRADE MARKS REGISTERED IN US PAT OFF" is printed underneath ".22 AUTOMATIC", the pictured cartridge casing is solid red as opposed to red diagonal striped, and there is NO comma after the phrase "FOR WINCHESTER RIFLE". This box displays sides 1 and 8 and the side sealing band features the codes 120 and 1-10.
