This Winchester manufactured early variation breech bolt is for the early model 1897 slide action shotgun in 12 gauge and is in very good condition with light wear. The early variation breech block is designed to handle the early or intermediate variation firing pin lock which uses a flat spring and not the coil spring.   (file photo)
