This Winchester Repeating Arms Co. manufactured two piece, split top, cardboard box with green top label and orange side sealing band contains all 50 rounds of 22 WRF ammunition with copper cases and is in very good to near excellent condition with light wear and soiling. The inner sleeve is starting to detach from the bottom half of the box along the inside bottom edge. The top label features a cartridge and states "MANUFACTURED BY THE / WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO." in capital letters. The orange side sealing band measures 0.6" wide. This box contains 3 different style Winchester WRF cartridges: 25 cartridges with a crimp in the casing and a cannelure in the bullet, 23 cartridges with a crimp in the casing and NO cannelure in the bullet, and 2 cartridges with neither a crimp nor a cannelure. All of the copper casings display the "H-10" headstamp and the lubrication on some of the bullets has turned white with age.

Date of Manufacture: This style box was introduced in 1890 and was produced until circa 1906.

Note: This box is similar to the Huegel # WRA-3 WRF-2 variation. The difference observed is that the line "MANUFACTURED BY THE" on the top label is printed in capital letters.

This box is similar to the box cataloged in Richard Rains's book Winchester Two-Piece .22 Boxes 1873 To 1927 as WRA-150 WRF-1(a). The difference observed is the word "WINCHESTER" underneath the cartridge is printed in larger lettering (compare the length of the word against the cartridge). This box displays the 0.6" wide side sealing band.
