This Japanese manufactured cleaning rod retainer is for the Type 99 Arisaka bolt action rifle in 7.7 caliber which uses the 4 7/8" long cleaning rod and is in very good condition exhibiting a mixture of original blue finish with a brown patina and light wear. (file photo)
