Here is a Winchester model 1886 lever action saddle ring carbine in 40-65 WCF caliber with a 22" long round barrel having a very good bore with some scattered specks of light pitting. This carbine has serial number 77393 and would have been manufactured circa 1893. The metal surfaces exhibit a grayish brown patina with good traces of original blue finish in the protected areas of the barrel and magazine tube and mellowed case colors on the left side of the receiver. There are some scattered age spots or rust specks present but nothing of significance. The replaced front barrel band is an original Winchester manufactured replacement that has strong original blue finish which should be aged and toned down to match better with the rest of the carbine. The rear band screw is a brass pin and the saddel ring itself is missing but the ring stud is still present. The walnut butt stock and forearm rate very good with normal dings and wear along with a short 1 1/2" long crack on the belly of the forearm forward of the rear band that acts like an old drying crack. The carbine is equipped with the carbine style rear sight and mechanically, it functions perfectly. Based upon the research done by John T Madl (published in the winchester collector magazine) on the subject of the model 1886 carbine, only 433 carbines were manufactured in this caliber. A solid 125 year old 1886 SRC for the collector and/or investor.  {Antique}
