Here is a commercial Colt Government model semi-auto pistol in 45 ACP caliber with a 5" National Match marked barrel having a bright, excellent bore. This pistol has serial #C199658 and was manufactured circa 1941. The barrel is lightly marked ".45 AUTO / N M 7790313" above the chamber. The slide is cut for the Swartz safety but the parts are not present. The barrel bushing is also marked "N M". The metal surfaces retain 98% of what is an added dark military type of finish with a darker tone on the front 2" of the slide and possibly some faint specks of pin prick pitting under the finish. All of the printing is clear and fully legible. All of the smaller parts are original and feature checkering and not serrated lines. The Bomar adjustable rear sight and front sight are not original to the pistol. The checkered walnut grips rate excellent. The unmarked regular blue finished magazine is in good condition exhibiting a mixture of thinning original blue finish and a brownish gray patina with oxidation specks and scratches. A very nice example of an early commercial pistol that likely shoots exceptionally well.
