Here is an Antique Colt medium frame Lightning slide action rifle in 44-40 caliber with a 26" long round barrel having a very good bore with a few specks of pitting and visible rifling its entire length. This rifle has serial number 28897 and was manufactured circa 1890. The metal surfaces retain perhaps 50% of its thinning original blue finish becoming a brown patina with some scattered specks of older rust and the balance as a brownish gray patina. The cresent steel butt plate and trigger plate are mostly a  gray patina with salt and pepper specks of pin prick pitting present. The straight grip walnut butt stock and checkered forearm panels rate very good to near excellent with a few dings and scratches. This rifle is equipped with a nickel silver bladed Rocky Mountain style front sight, factory sporting rear sight and a folding tang mounted peep sight. Mechanically, this rifle functions perfectly. A very nice example in the caliber of choice.  {Antique}
