Here is an attractive antique Colt small frame Lightning slide action rifle in 22 Short rimfire caliber with a 24" long tapered octagon barrel having a very good but dark bore. This rifle has serial number 11739 and was introduced by Colt in 1887 and discontinued in 1904. The metal surfaces exhibit a pleasing soft brownish gray patina overall with some scattered specks of older rust staining and perhaps 20% thinning original blue finish in protected areas. The brass magazine feed throat has a pleasing ochre color being untouched and patinated. The factory checker pistol grip select walnut butt stock and forearm with original high gloss laquer finish rate very good with light dings and handling marks from years of use. Mechanically, this rifle functions perfectly. The chaeckered hard rubber butt plate rates excellent being void of any cracks or chips. This rifle is equipped with a Lyman No. 4 ivory bead front sight and mid size sporting rear sight with elevator. The toe line of the butt stock has an oval shaped german silver monogram plate that has not been engraved. A fine rifle that must have been a knock out in appearance when it left the factory new.  {Antique}
