This Springfield Armory manufactured model 1879 combination tool is stamped "U.S. / Mod.1879" and is for the model 1873 trapdoor 45-70 rifle or carbine. This combination tool has two straight slot screw driver tips, a punch and a mainspring clamp and is in very good condition exhibiting mixture of original blue finish with a brown patina and having some specks of rust.
