Here is a special order Winchester model 1894 deluxe lever action short rifle in 30 WCF caliber with a 22" long nickel steel round barrel having a bright, excellent bore. This fine rifle has serial number 290949 and was ordered on December 26th 1905, received into the warehouse on August 25th 1906 and shipped September 1st 1906.. The barrel is factory equipped with a boss under the front sight, facory oval proof marks on both the barrel and receiver, a three quarter length magazine tube with takedown lever, short 8 1/4" length forearm (proper length for shorter than standard barrels) and pistol grip checkered 2X walnut butt stock containing nice feather crotched figure on both sides. The butt stock is numbered "451" which matches the lower tang marking and is equipped with a hard rubber grip cap and shotgun style butt plate with widow's peak. Both the butt stock and forearm rate near excellent with light wear and 97% original factory varnish finish remaining. The barrel, magazine tube and forearm cap retain 97% original blue finish. The receiver retains 93-95% original blue finish with the loss located primarily on the belly and link which exhibit a pleasing soft brown patina. The loading gate retains nearly all of its original fire blue finish. The hammer and lever exhibit a mixture of strong case colors and a brownish gray patina. The front sight blade and rear sight assembly are period installed replacements manufactured by Marbles. Mechanically, this firearm functions perfectly. A fine, high condition special order rifle consigned to us by an 83 year old man who last shot it 40 some odd years ago and remembers when his father owned it before him.  {C&R}    (see photos)
