UMC Box of .38 Long Rim Fire Cartridges

This Union Metallic Cartridge Co. manufactured two piece, split top, blue and white cardboard box with green top label, orange bottom label, and red side sealing band contains 40 out of 50 rounds of .38 Long Rim Fire ammunition with copper cases. It is in good condition with moderate wear and dirt smudging. The top label displays a black "U" inside of a circle and the arched company name "THE UNION METALLIC CARTRIDGE CO.", There is a dash between RIM and FIRE on the top label. The front of the side sealing band states "and guaranteed superior to / any on the market. / The U. M. C. CO." The bottom of the box has a guarantee from UMC of manufacturing. The box has dirt smudging, white coating from the oxidization on the top of the inside of the box, the top of the box has become loosely fitted. The copper casings display the "U-3" headstamp and have a light coating of tarnish present and the bullets are oxidized. 

Date of Manufacture: This style box was probably introduced in the late 1890's.
