U.S. Cartridge Co. Self-Cleaning Box of 22 LR Ammunition

This United States Cartridge Co. manufactured orange, black, blue and white cardboard box contains all 50 rounds of Self-Cleaning 22 LR ammunition with copper cases and is in very good condition with light wear, dirt smudges, and the start of a split in the bottom hinge of left end flap. The top panel displays the words "MADE IN U.S.A.", a thumb cut on the right end, and a cartridge with a cannelure in the casing. The front and back panels displays the printing "RIM FIRE RIFLE CARTRIDGES" and the sides, end flaps, and bottom panel state "MADE IN U. S. A.". The end flap warning reads "CAUTION! / Dangerous within / 1 Mile". The copper casings display the "US-4" headstamp, do NOT have cannelures present, and are coated with a layer of tarnish. The bullets display 4 grooves and the lubricant on some of the bullets has turned white with age.

Date of Manufacture: This style box was introduced in 1928.

Note: This box is similar to the Huegel # US-10A LR-1.1(b) variation. The differences observed are there is no white printing on this box, the cartridges do not feature a cannelure in the copper casing, and the bullets display 4 grooves. This box displays a cartridge with a cannelure in the case on the top panel, the #3 style front and back panels, the B style bottom, and the #2 style end flap with a 1 Mile distance warning.
