Winchester Leader Box of 22 LR Ammunition

This Winchester Repeating Arms Co. manufactured red, yellow and white cardboard box contains all 50 rounds of Leader 22 LR ammunition with brass cases and is in good condition with light to moderate wear, dirt smudges, tape residue on the top panel and both end flaps, and a 7/8" split in the bottom hinge of the right end flap. A 9/16" split is present in one corner of the cardboard ammo tray as well as a slightly wrinkled bottom corner. The front panel states "MADE IN UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" across the bottom. The ownership lines "WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO. / DIVISION OF OLIN INDUSTRIES, INC." are printed on the back panel. Both end flaps display "MADE / IN / U.S.A." and the product code "K 2388 R". The end flap warning is printed facing the top panel and states "RANGE 1 MILE / BE CAREFUL". The brass casings display the "H-10" headstamp and have a light coating of tarnish present. The lubrication on the bullets has turned white with age.

Date of Manufacture: This style box was introduced in 1946 and was produced until 1959.

Note: This box is similar to the Huegel # WRA-55 LR-2(a) variation. The difference observed is that the range warning on the end flaps is printed facing the top panel as opposed to facing the rest of the end flap and bottom panel. This box displays the "D" style back panel, the product code "K 2388 R" on both end flaps, and the #2 style end flap warning.
